How To Be Classy

Advice on etiquette, style, and life.

A Few Words From The Classy Lass

In making this blog I was inspired by several other “advice” style blogs, particularly Rules of a Lady and it’s male counterpart. A problem that I have with those blogs is that they are often  sexist and tend to re-enforce gender stereotypes. I am doing my best to avoid that. The majority of my advice will be directed at both men and women (and anyone in between or outside of those two categories). I don’t want to perpetuate the idea that all men must be chivalrous and all women must be dainty and delicate. I’m just promoting politeness and general good manners. If it seems like I am leaning into that territory, I assure you it is unintentional.

I’d also like to say that while “class” is a term clearly associated with socio-economic status, that’s not the focus of this blog in the least. I’ll quote Ann Landers on this: “Class bespeaks an aristocracy unrelated to ancestors or money. Some extremely wealthy people have no class at all, while others who are struggling to make ends meet are loaded with it.”

And finally: I’m not telling you how to live your life. I’m just offering suggestions.

Love,
The Classy Lass
